Do I need a permit to remodel a kitchen in Northridge?
Replacing cabinets and counters in the same place usually does not need a permit. Moving walls, plumbing, gas lines or adding circuits does. Northridge permits come from LADBS, and we handle them.
Can you add a primary suite to a one-story Northridge house?
Often, yes. A ground-level addition is usually simpler than a second story if the lot has room. We measure the lot and check the City of Los Angeles floor-area and setback rules during the visit.
My house was repaired after the 1994 earthquake. Does that matter?
It helps to know. We look at what was repaired and how the existing structure is built, so new work connects correctly. The engineer designs new framing and foundations to current seismic code.
