Backyard Remodel with Pool Deck,
Large Concrete Slabs & Lighting — Granada Hills
A backyard that works
day and night.
The owners had a pool, overgrown citrus trees and a yard of loose gravel that was hard to use and keep clean. They wanted a clean, modern backyard that works day and night, without touching the pool. We completed it in about 3 weeks.
What we did
- 01
Design: layout, slab pattern, joint material and lighting plan
- 02
Demolition and tree removal with our own mini excavator
- 03
About 40 tons of soil excavated and hauled off with our own dump trailer
- 04
New drainage system to move water away from the house and pool deck
- 05
Side yard: removed an unused planter bed, hauled off the soil and poured a new reinforced concrete slab, giving the owners more usable space
- 06
Large-format concrete slabs in a grid, with decorative aggregate glued into the joints with a special binder (no loose gravel, no weeds)
- 07
New electrical feed for the pool equipment
- 08
Wall lights along the block wall and landscape uplights along the hedge
Why it went fast
BFF owns its excavator, trailer and equipment, so excavation and haul-off did not wait on rentals or subcontractors.
About 40 tons of soil hauled off. About 3 weeks from start to finish.
The same pool.
A new backyard.
